  • The Hyperpole of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2024 was delayed by more than half an hour following a track excursion during Race 1 of Road to Le Mans leading to major repairs to a safety rail. As already announced, the Porsche 963 n°12 of Hertz Team JOTA of Callum Ilott, Will Stevens and Norman Nato did not take part in this session following Ilott's accident during Free Practice 2 this Wednesday evening.
  • Author of the best time in the qualifying session, Dries Vanthoor (BMW n°15) did not achieve the same performance this Thursday. The Belgian driver made a mistake with just over seven minutes remaining in the clock, ending his effort in the wall at Indianapolis and triggering a short red flag.
  • Sébastien Bourdais then occupied first place after a fantastic lap in 3:24.816. Too short on fuel, the Manceau did not leave the pit lane and had to be content to watch the rest of the session from his garage.
  • The Frenchman's turn resisted the assaults of Ferrari, but not to his teammate Alex Lynn. Having been behind since the start of the session, the Briton narrowly got the better of the Manceau and seemed to offer a magnificent one-two finish to Cadillac.
  • The happiness was short-lived for the manufacturer from Detroit (Michigan), since Kévin Estre (Porsche) came out of the woods in the very last moments to take his first pole position at Le Mans.

  • The No. 6 Porsche will share the front row with the No. 3 Cadillac. It inherits second position since the sister car will be penalized five places on the starting grid on Saturday following the accident for which Earl Bamber was found guilty during the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
  • The two official Ferraris will start from the second row, in front of theAlpine n°35 of Paul-Loup Chatin, Charles Milesi and Ferdinand Habsburg, excellent 5th on the grid.
  • The day is not yet completely over at Le Mans since Free Practice 4 will take place at 22:30 p.m. this Thursday evening. For the race, you will have to wait until Saturday 16 p.m.
