Big clean-up and major upheavals in the crews of Porsche for the 2025 season. The German manufacturer has formalized its plans for the next campaigns of the World Championship ofEndurance (WEC) and theIMSA…and the least we can say is that there is change.
In WEC, Porsche is following the strategy adopted by Cadillac this season by only fielding two drivers for the entire season, with a third driver in the long races (8 hours or more). The first major change is the promotion of Julien Andlauer to the official Porsche Penske Motorsport team, in the No. 5 alongside Michael Christensen. The 25-year-old from Lyon, already an official Porsche driver, has until now been racing in the private Proton Competition 963 in the WEC. The two men will be joined by Mathieu Jaminet in the long rounds, particularly in the 24H of Le Mans.

Cameron and Lotterer out, Mako leaves "by mutual agreement"
Regarding the n°6, Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor will continue their collaboration, they who are on the verge of being crowned WEC champion this season. They will be joined by Matt Campbell in the 8h or more races and for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. You will have understood: no Frédéric Makowiecki, nor André Lotterer with Porsche Penske Motorsport in 2025 in WEC. The German and the Frenchman are leaving the German house. For Frédéric Makowiecki, Porsche specifies that their separation was made "by mutual agreement" after an eleven-year shared adventure.
In IMSA, Porsche is obviously continuing its American program with two regular drivers for the entire season, plus an additional driver for the Endurance Cup. There will also be changes in the crew organization: Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet will compete for the entire championship in the #963 Porsche 6 and will be joined by Kévin Estre in the Endurance Cup rounds, while Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy will be partnered in the #7 with Laurens Vanthoor as third driver. Dane Cameron is therefore no longer part of Porsche's plans for 2025, even though he has just been crowned IMSA champion.
“I would like to thank Dane Cameron, André Lotterer and Frédéric Makowiecki for the incredible work they have done over the past few years. All three have played an important role in the fact that we have been able to celebrate great successes with the Porsche 963 on both sides of the Atlantic, and this already in the second year of competition, said Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport. In 2025, we will be competing in the championships with new crews. Our team continues to be among the best internationally in endurance racing. In addition, we are staying true to our very successful initiative by helping another former Porsche Junior to climb the career ladder. Over the past few seasons, Julien Andlauer has impressed us at the wheel of all the Porsche racing cars designed in Weissach. He fully deserves this promotion to the factory driver team.”
There are therefore only 8 official drivers who will drive aboard the 963 of the Porsche Penske Motorsport teams in IMSA and WEC, with a pooling of crews in the two championships. "The IMSA and WEC calendars allow us to engage the driver associations even more often. The door has opened for a commitment to both series.", says Jonathan Diuguid, general manager of Porsche Penske Motorsport.

Cyril Abiteboul is shopping! This time he is in the top of the basket, great news for Genegis / Hyundai. By the way, what a pitiful mistake to have ejected him from Renault F1 which has become Alpine by the act of the prince.
