For the Endurance World Championship – which will kick off on February 28 in Qatar – it will obviously be Team WRT that will be in charge of operating the German machines in LMGT3. Compared to the previous season, there are obviously several changes. On board the n°31, Timur Boguslavskiy and Yasser Shahin replace Darren Leung and Sean Gelael, who left for McLaren United Autosport.
Despite weeks of speculation about the participation of Valentino Rossi or not in WEC – especially because the race number of the second BMW was n°32 on the first entry list – the Italian legend of MotoGP will indeed be present for a second consecutive season with BMW and Team WRT, aboard the n°46. In 2025, he will be accompanied by Kelvin van der Linde, who was recruited by the German firm in mid-December, and by Ahmad Al Harthy, who remains the Bronze pilot of crew n°46.
“I am very happy to continue my experience in WEC, because last year was a great first season, Valentino Rossi rejoices. We had some good races, including two podiums, and we want to try to be stronger and faster. We will work hard with BMW M Motorsport to improve our performance and be more competitive in every race. It’s great to race again on fantastic circuits, which I know well from racing there on a motorcycle, and it makes me enjoy racing in the WEC. Le Mans is of course the most important circuit, we were unlucky last year, but we will fight for the podium in 2025!”
In IMSA, in the GTD Pro category, Paul Miller Racing will be responsible for entering two BMW M4 GT3s in 2025, while Turner Motorsport will field a car in the GTD category. In total, ten official BMW drivers will be entered in IMSA in the GT categories.
“As with our Hypercar programmes, we can expect BMW M Motorsport drivers to be very successful in the GT3 programmes of the WEC and IMSA championships in 2025, says Andreas Roos, Director of BMW M Motorsport. I congratulate Team WRT on once again recruiting some of the best Silver and Bronze drivers for the cockpits of our two new BMW M4 GT3 Evos. They will, I hope, create many highlights alongside our three factory drivers. In the IMSA series, Paul Miller Racing will be at work with two BMW M4 GT3 Evos in the GTD PRO class, supported by a selection of top factory drivers. The reunion of the former BMW Junior team with Dan Harper, Max Hesse and Neil Verhagen in the same championship and team is a great bonus that underlines the successful revival of BMW M Motorsport’s legendary talent development programme.”
