4 Hours of Barcelona – FP2: Inter Europol Competition sets the pace

After a start to the weekend dominated by Algarve Pro Racing in FP1, Inter Europol Competition took control during ELMS Free Practice 2 in Barcelona.

After Algarve Pro Racing's strong start in FP1 of the first round ofELMSThe hierarchy shifted slightly this Saturday morning during the second free practice session (FP2) in Catalonia. In the top LMP2 category, Inter Europol Competition stood out.

Driven by Bijoy Garg and Reshad de Gérus, the #34 car of the Polish team set the fastest time of the morning with a lap of 1:29.622, narrowly beating the team's second car, the #43 driven by Jakub Smiechowski, Nicholas Yelloly, and Tom Dillmann. The #18 IDEC Sport car, piloted by Laurents Hörr, Jamie Chadwick, and Valerio Rinicella, completed the top three. The #25 Algarve Pro Racing car, with its trio of Tristan Vautier, Matthias Kaiser, and Jake Hughes, remained in fourth place, just over half a second behind the leader.

In LMP2 Pro-Am, Antonio Fuoco, François Perrodo, and Matthieu Vaxiviere piloted the #83 AF Corse car to the top of the class with a time of 1:30.534, ahead of the #19 Rossa Racing by Virage entry of Rik Koen, John Falb, and Manuel Espirito Santo, and the #3 DKR Engineering entry of Jean Glorieux, Marlon Hernandez, and Sebastian Alvarez. Also of note was the #30 Duqueine entry from the trio. Dorian PinRichard Verschoor and Giorgio Roda are only in seventh place.

In the LMP3 class, Eurointernational proved fastest, with the #11 car of Max van der Snel, Matthew Richard Bell, and Douwe Dedecker finishing the session with a time of 1:40.465, narrowly beating the #13 Inter Europol Competition entry driven by Henry Cubides, Alexander Bukhantsov, and Chun Ting Chou. The #17 CLX Motorsport entry, piloted by Bruno Ribeiro, Alexander Jacoby, and Paul Lanchère, completed the podium. The top seven cars in the category are separated by less than a second, promising a thrilling qualifying session.

Finally, in the LMGT3 category, the hierarchy was dominated by theAston Martin The Racing Spirit of Leman Vantage AMR #59, driven by Marius Fossard, Clément Mateu, and Valentin Hasse Claot, set a time of 1:41.610. The French crew narrowly edged out the Porsche The #54 High Class Racing entry, driven by Laurin Heinrich, Dennis Andersen, and Anders Fjordbach (+0:135), was followed by Andrew Gilbert, Romain Leroux, and Fran Rudea in the #74 Kessel Racing entry. The crews now have their sights set on qualifying, scheduled for 15:00 PM at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
