Neel Jani to make European return Le Mans Series this weekend in Portimão, two years after his last appearance in the championship. The 41-year-old Swiss driver, competing in the Hypercar category of the WEC with Proton Competition, was called in as reinforcement by DKR Engineering to contest the season finale at the wheel of the Oreca 07 Gibson n°3 entered in LMP2 Pro-Am, alongside the holders Georgios Kolovos and Laurents Hörr.

Jani had not driven in ELMS since the 2023 Portuguese round, which he contested with the French team Duqueine. This time, he takes the place of Felipe Fraga, who is held up in Brazil by other commitments, after having himself replaced Thomas Laurent during the Silverstone race.

« I am happy to return to ELMS after my last participation in 2023, but this time with DKR ", Jani confided. " I know Portimão well, but this will be my first experience in the Pro-Am category, which motivates me even more. I've heard a lot of good things about Georgios, and I already know Laurents, a fast rider I competed against last year. Their season has been complicated, and I'd like to help them finish on a high note. »
