The hierarchy for the 2026 season ofELMS The picture is starting to take shape under the Spanish sun. For this first event of the year, held on the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, Reshad de Gerus dominated the premier category and will start from pole position in the 4 Hours of Barcelona.
In LMP2, the Frenchman effectively dominated the proceedings to secure pole position for the No. 43 Oreca of Inter Europol Competition, a machine he shares with only one teammate, Bijoy Garg.
In the LMP2 Pro-Am category, the hierarchy was established thanks to a solid performance from the #30 Duqueine Team car. Giorgio Roda perfectly fulfilled his mission in qualifying, securing class pole for the crew he shares with Richard Verschoor and Dorian PinThe crew will therefore start in an ideal position to aim for victory tomorrow.
In the LMP3 prototype category, the #85, the sole Duqueine entry on the grid, entered by R-ace GP, set the pace. It will start from pole position in the category for the 4 Hours of Barcelona. The French team is ahead of the #13 Inter Europol Competition entry, whose second place on the grid was secured by Henry Cubides after a close battle.
The LMGT3 category witnessed an unprecedented event in ELMS history. Abdulla Ali Al-Khelaifi secured the first-ever pole position for a Qatari driver in the series. At the wheel of the Mercedes Benz The AMG-LMGT3 from Team Qatar by Iron Lynx managed to stand out from the crowd and get ahead of the competition.
He will thus start ahead of the #33 TF Sport Corvette Z06 LMGT3.R. Its driver, Blake McDonald, may have some regrets: while on an uphill run, he was held up by a Classic Ferrari for sale during his final timed attempt, preventing him from contesting first place until the end.
