This is the new addition to the Hypercar regulations in Endurance ! This Wednesday, as part of the New York Auto Show, Genesis (the luxury brand of Hyundai) officially presented its GMR-001 Hypercar in 1:1 scale, two weeks after presenting a 1:2 scale model of his mount. Dressed all in orange, the color of the new Genesis Magma Racing team, this South Korean Hypercar is an LMDh with an Oreca chassis, which will be powered by a 8L V3,2 engine (consisting of two inline four-cylinder blocks from the program WRC Hyundai). It is expected to make its competitive debut in 2026, initially in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and therefore to the 24H of Le MansAnd then IMSA the following year.
“Today marks a significant milestone for Genesis Magma Racing as we unveil the GMR-001 Hypercar, along with our striking livery and racing suits, said Cyril Abiteboul, team principal of Genesis Magma Racing. As we prepare for our 2026 WEC and 2027 IMSA campaigns, we're not just building a racing team, we're building a legacy. Every day brings us closer to realizing Genesis' full potential in the world of motorsport."

Genesis has chosen a surprising and vibrant livery for its GMR-001 Hypercar. Inspired by Genesis's design philosophy of "Athletic Elegance," the GMR-001 “embodies the brand’s commitment to combining Korean heritage with motorsport innovation, setting a new standard for creativity on the global motor racing stage.”, says the South Korean manufacturer. As on the model and on the first visual renderings, we see the two-stripe light signature that continues even beyond the wheel arch, on the sides of the prototype. We find this two-stripe philosophy on the Hypercar's rear lights, which consist of two long horizontal lines.
The body of the Genesis GMR-001 was designed by Genesis Design Europe under the direction of Luc Donckerwolke. “The GMR-001 Hypercar, like any racing car, is a sculpture designed from the constraints of efficiency and performance, combined with the design DNA of Genesis, the brand with two lines, said Genesis' creative directorThe livery is an orchestration of the tension and balance of the brand's distinctly Korean character with the gradients from 'Magma' orange to dark red highlighting the high temperature of the powertrain. The color gradients from light to dark of the 'Magma' script is an optical Doppler effect that expresses the glorious sound of the twin-turbo V8 engine at work.
Currently, two drivers have been confirmed by Genesis to launch the South Korean Endurance program next year: André Lotterer and Pipo Derani. “When I put on the racing suit, I realized how exciting this opportunity was, said the German pilotRacing for Genesis Magma Racing is a true honor, and I look forward to pushing the GMR-001 Hypercar to its limits on famous circuits like Le Mans, Daytona and many more.” Genesis Magma Racing has already begun its motorsport adventure, partnering with IDEC Sport in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS). Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert, from the Korean brand's Trajectory program, competed in (and won) their first race in LM P2, during the 4H of Barcelona at the beginning of April.
