The development of Genesis Magma Racing's GMR-001 Hypercar has entered a new phase. Thus, the team, which will enter the World ChampionshipEndurance in 2026 has just started major work on a simulator via its partnership with the specialist company Dynasma.

"This choice clearly demonstrates the team's desire not only to participate in the WEC, but also to be immediately competitive there. The first simulator test sessions for drivers André Lotterer and Pipo Derani are part of the ongoing work aimed at consolidating the foundations of the Genesis Magma Racing team., she said in a press release.

“The feedback is immediate and natural, assures Lotterer, who will be competing in the WEC next year. It feels like you're driving a real car, but it doesn't adapt to the simulator. You get a 1:1 response that allows you to focus on vehicle development and performance."

For Genesis, "simulator work is essential to the development of a new car"

"We are currently focusing on getting started with the simulator and validating the systems software, specifies, for his part, Pipo Derani, Lotterer's future teammate. Such as the hybrid system, the MGU and the brakes, as well as the validation of the tires and the car model.

"The hardware gives us exactly what we need and will therefore be essential in the development of the car and our preparation for the race.", he continues. On the side of François-Xavier Demaison, technical director of Genesis Magma Racing, it is estimated that “Simulator work is essential to the development of a new car. And with Dynasma, we collaborate with the best.”

These simulator sessions will allow drivers and engineers to begin developing the settings for the first track tests and to work between test days. In addition, the team announced that a Dynasma simulator will be installed in early 2026 at Le Castellet, where it has decided to set up its headquarters.

Arrive in the best possible condition for the first round of the WEC in 2026

“When the team shifts its focus from developing the GMR-001 Hypercar to the 2026 WEC season, the simulator will become an essential tool for drivers and engineers to prepare for each round of the championship.”, Genesis further explains in its press release.

“To succeed in the 2026 WEC season, we must seize every opportunity to gain experience and gather data while developing the GMR-001 Hypercar. This will be in parallel with the formation of the Genesis Magma Racing team. "Says Cyril Abiteboul, team director.

According to him, the installation of a simulator within its headquarters "This gives the engineers and drivers a significant head start in the development of the GMR-001 Hypercar. It shows that we want to be serious contenders in the World Endurance Championship. And it puts us in the best possible position when track testing begins later this year.", concludes the Frenchman.

All of this does not bode well for Hyundai's presence in the WRC in 2026, even if the Korean group has the finances to participate in two world championships, the WEC and the WRC, at the same time, with very unequal benefits!
