IDEC Sport and Genesis Magma Racing have found the replacement for Logan sargeant. While the American has decided to move away from motorsport for other projects, he will be replaced within the French team and the project Endurance of the South Korean manufacturer by Dani Juncadella. The 33-year-old Spaniard, a specialist in Grand Touring and simulator driver for Aston Martin en Formula 1, will have its first experience in a prototype over a full season by participating in the 2025 season of the European Le Mans Series on the Oreca n°18 alongside Mathys Jaubert and Jamie Chadwick.
« I am really happy to join IDEC SPORT and Genesis Magma Racing, Juncadella rejoices. This is an incredible opportunity to make my debut in ELMS with such an experienced team. Even though I drive in GT3, I already have experience in prototypes thanks to the 24 Hours of Daytona (In 2018). I am confident and I know that the team will help me adapt quickly. My past in car also gives me useful references to manage aerodynamics. I would like to thank the whole team for this trust. I can't wait to start working with them, and it starts this week! » Juncadella also had the opportunity to drive a Hypercar during the Rookie Test of WEC last November with Cadillac's V-Series.R.
Lotterer enters the 24 Hours of Le Mans with IDEC Sport
Competing in the World Endurance Championship in the LMGT3 category with Corvette, Juncadella recently distinguished himself by winning the 1812 km of Qatar. The Spaniard will honor his commitment with the American manufacturer for the 24 Hours of Le Mans where he will be replaced at IDEC Sport by one of the official drivers of Genesis Magma Racing, André Lotterer.
« It's a logical choice. André has immense experience and has already won the event three times. (2011, 2012, 2014), Explain Cyril Abiteboul, President of Hyundai Motorsport. He is part of the Genesis Magma Racing family as he will be racing with us in Hypercar next year. This participation allows him to familiarize himself with the team, engineers and mechanics this year while bringing his valuable expertise from the 24 Hours of Le Mans. »
Nicolas Minassian, Team Principal of IDEC Sport, concludes: “ Racing at Le Mans with André is something special. He has proven that he is fast, no matter which manufacturer he races for. He is a great driver and a great person. I have no doubt that he will adapt easily to LMP2. This collaboration will be beneficial for everyone. »
André Lotterer will test with IDEC Sport/Genesis Magma Racing ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The European Le Mans Series season will begin on April 6 with the 4 Hours of Barcelona.
