24 Hours of Le Mans – H21: The final straight begins

There are now 3 hours left on the Sarthe circuit before the end of these 24 Hours of Le Mans the Toyota unfolded the plan perfectly with the #7 at the top of the Hypercar category. Mike conway, at the wheel of the leading car, however lags 7″ behind the best times, proof of the management of the Japanese team. She is ahead of her sister #8 by 1 minute 36. Note a problem with the tank for Toyota #8 which has prevented it from refueling since the beginning of the morning. This is reflected in the number of pit stops. #8 has 29 while #7 has 27. In third position,Alpine #36 currently driven by Matthieu Vaxivière is 5 laps behind the leading car. In its fight for third place, it runs in the same times as the Glickenhaus #70 with 3 stops more than the American Hypercar. The gap between the two mounts is 1 minute 54.

In LMP2, the #31 of the WRT team has regained the lead over its sister #41. She now has a lead of 1 minute 13 after 21 hours of racing over the #41. The #07 Oreca 28 of the Jota team completes the top 3 with a lap ahead of the #65 of Panis Racing and 3 minutes behind the leading duo. The smallest gap in the top 10 of this category is at the 9th and 10th position between the #30 of the Duqueine Team and the #38 of the Jota team since 6″ separates the two LMP2s.

In the GTE Pro category, the #51 from AF Corse remains in the lead but the #63 Corvette from the Corvette Racing team is only 41″ behind. The two crews have the same number of pit stops but we see a better pace in this relay for the AF Corse #51, probably with the idea of taking shelter for the end of the race. The top 3 in this category is completed by the Porsche #92 from Porsche GT Team. Note that it has one more pit stop than its sister car, #91, which is only 21″ behind.

For the GTE Am, the TF Sport took the lead in the pit stop game. She is ahead of the #83 of the AF Corse team by around twenty seconds. The provisional podium is completed by the #80 of the Iron Lynx team which is one lap behind the leader.
