Nicolas Varrone is putting up a fight. Having moved into the lead after Raffaele Marciello's (BMW) accident at the end of the second hour of the race, the Argentinian Porsche 963 nº99 of Proton Competition resisted the pressure of Jean-Éric Vergne (Peugeot ) during the first minutes of the restart before taking advantage of the traffic to get some breathing space.

The German manufacturer's car is, however, under investigation for Nico Pino's untimely braking on Marciello. Behind the two leaders, Nyck de Vries (Toyota) is in third place at the halfway point ahead of the two Cadillacs and the second Peugeot.

In LMGT3, the fight is now tight after the intervention of the Safety Car since Sébastien Baud (United Autosports) has less than half a second's lead over Rahel Frey (Iron Dames).
