After announcing Jose Maria Lopez and Esteban Masson previously, Akkodis ASP Team continues building its LMGT3 program for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season (WEC). With a particularly successful 2025 season, marked by pole positions, victories and a double podium in the Teams and Drivers standings, the French team confirms two key profiles: Petru Umbrarescu and Tom Van Rompuy, both entered as Bronze drivers on the Lexus RC F LMGT3.
In car #87, Petru Umbrarescu returns after a remarkable first WEC campaign. Joining the Akkodis ASP Team's LMGT3 program, the Romanian immediately made his mark, securing two victories in 2025, including his first at the 6 Hours of São Paulo, before winning again at the 8 Hours of Bahrain. Consistent and resilient under pressure, Umbrarescu played a significant role in the team's third-place finish in the LMGT3 Drivers' World Championship alongside José María López and Clemens Schmid. He also made history by becoming the first Romanian driver to win a FIA WEC race.
The Lexus #78, however, will welcome a new face with the arrival of Tom Van Rompuy. The Belgian driver, experienced in endurance racing, has a solid background in GT and prototypes, with stints in the GT World Challenge Europe, in ELMS and in the Asian Le Mans Series. Already seen in LMGT3 in the WEC, Van Rompuy notably secured the category's first-ever pole position at the inaugural round in Qatar. His record also includes a podium finish in LMP2 Pro-Am at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
With these two confirmations, Akkodis ASP Team is clearly banking on continuity and experience to approach the 2026 season. The complete driver lineups for the two Lexus RC F LMGT3s will be announced soon, but the ambition is already stated: to remain a major player in the LMGT3 category in the WEC.
