Alex Lynn, poleman at the 6 Hours of Fuji: “The tires were the key”

Alex Lynn has secured his second consecutive pole position at the 6 Hours of Fuji. Having already set the fastest lap in Hyperpole in 2024, the Briton repeated the feat this Saturday by dominating his teammate Earl Bamber (Cadillac No. 38) and Marco Sorensen (Aston Martin Valkyrie #009).

« The tires were the key, Lynn said at a press conference. We worked a lot all weekend on the out lap and the warm-up lap, to make sure the car was in the right window to get the result we wanted. The competition was very, very strong, so we had to work hard to give ourselves a chance to be in this position. »

« Yesterday (Friday) I didn't have a great feeling with the car. Some other brands seemed very fast, and we had to go back to a familiar base for qualifying. We made big improvements on the car for the race, but for qualifying we went back a bit to a São Paulo-type setup. This morning, in Free Practice 3, I had a much better feeling and a lot more confidence. »

« We push each other a lot. We know the driver on the other side of the garage is going to put in a big lap. Obviously, we don't want to be the second car. It's human, we always want to do better. That's kind of what we see between the #12 and #38. There's a nice natural competition that pulls us all up, and I think that pushes us to improve. »

« Cadillac Racing's image has changed a lot in 12 months. Today, it was important to put the car in front, because we have a very good race pace, as do other cars. I feel confident: we have what it takes to fight at the front during the six hours. Today, we did a lot of work to get into an ideal position, and tomorrow, I think we can have a good race. »

Meet at 4:00 a.m. (Paris time) this Sunday for the start of the 6 Hours of Fuji.
