Le WEC will not be changing its schedule for the next season. The 2026 World Championship calendar will indeed be the same as the previous one, with the exception that it will start a month later, as the 1812 km race in Qatar will take place on March 28th to kick off the season.

Things could change, however, from 2027 onwards. Back in Europe Le Mans Silverstone, a former WEC circuit from its inception in 2012 until the 2018-2019 super season, is a strong favorite to be the next track to join the world championship calendar in the near future. This status is reinforced by its historical significance and the presence of several British manufacturers in the Hypercar category, with Aston Martin and the expected arrival of McLaren in 2027.

Argentina and Brazil on the WEC 2027 calendar?

Another country has submitted its bid for the 2025 Christmas season. A more surprising destination: Argentina, and more specifically the Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez in Buenos Aires. A circuit known for having hosted the Argentine Grand Prix of Formula 1 from 1953 to 1960, then from 1971 to 1981 (except in 1976) and finally from 1995 to 1998. It is also a historical site of theEnduranceThe 1000 km of Buenos Aires was held there from 1954 to 1960 (except in 1959) and then from 1970 to 1972. In 1970, the duo of Jean-Pierre Beltoise and Henri Pescarolo won with Matra. The race was held twice more in 2017 and 2018 as part of Turismo Carretera, the local stock car championship.

Currently homologated as grade 2 by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), renovation work is currently underway, particularly in preparation for the arrival of the MotoGP in 2027. The Argentinian circuit, however, is aiming for other major international events, including, of course, a dream return of Formula 1, but also a visit from the World Endurance Championship, as revealed by Fabián Turnes, Secretary of Sports for the city of Buenos Aires, on the program Recta Principal, available on the channel YouTube Motor Deportivo. " We began negotiations a month and a half ago with the WEC for 2027 He says.

If this were to be confirmed for 2027, it would then make two events in South America, since the contract for the 6 Hours of São Paulo provides for a minimum of five editions in the Brazilian metropolis (until 2030), with an option for five additional years.
