Eduardo Barrichello is making a name for himself. Rubens' son secured his second pole position in the last three races of the season this Saturday. WEC, becoming only the second driver in the history of the LMGT3 category to achieve this multiple times after Sarah Bovy. Partnered with Anthony McIntosh and Frenchman Valentin Hasse-Clot, the Brazilian proved to be the fastest in the Hyperpole, benefiting from the collective work of the Gaydon brand.
« Weird, really weird day, said Eduardo Barrichello after the Hyperpole. We struggled a lot today, and not just today, all weekend actually. The team managed to put things back in order, though. We took some really big risks, and they all paid off. Tony (Anthony McIntosh, in charge of the first phase of qualifying. Ed.) did a huge job, an incredible lap to put us in Hyperpole, and I'm pretty happy with my own lap too. And here we are. We also played with the aspirations a bit at the start of the session for Hyperpole.
I was a little bit short of top speed and I think the #27 (the'Aston Martin from Heart of Racing Team. Editor's note) was very nice in giving us the slipstream to help us. We did two laps with them in front, then two laps with me in front, so we helped each other out a lot and we both ended up in the top 5, which is a very good result.
For tomorrow? I think we have a good car. Tony did a great job, I think I did a decent job too, and Val (Valentin Hasse-Clot. Ed.) always does a good job, so I'm pretty confident for the race. »
