Seventh in the constructors' standings, Peugeot This was an excellent opportunity to score some big points before tackling the 24h of Le MansUnfortunately, despite a satisfactory start to the race and a preferential position acquired by the two cars No. 93 and 94, neither of these two crews managed to score any points at Spa.

More than disappointing, this new meeting has a bitter taste for Loïc duval. "The personal record is not good. When you have both cars in the top 5 at a given time and neither scores points, it's clearly frustrating, he conceded. On the Golden Ring, it's a little contact at the restart, it can happen, it's part of the race. On the 93, it's a strategy error. But it was cool to finally be able to fight a little with the guys in front."

“My first stint was complicated: good start, good pace, but really bad traffic at the exit of Raidillon, with two GTs several times — I lost places regularly because of that, even though the pace was there, did he regret. On my third stint, I started 10th and moved up to 4th place. So the pace was good there.

A significant overtaking for Duval and Peugeot

Despite this naturally disappointing final result for Peugeot, Loïc Duval can still boast of being at the origin of one of the great maneuvers of these 6 hours of Spa. After more than two hours of racing, the French driver managed to get the better of two cars simultaneously, while he was in the middle of the straight, three abreast. By overtaking the Ferrari #51 of Antonio Giovinazzi and the #20 BMW of Robin Frijns, the #94 Peugeot had its moment of glory.

"At that point, we had a better pace. My first stint was complicated, but this one went well, explains Loïc Duval. We were light, so there was an opportunity. It was super close. Fortunately, the other two drivers behaved exemplarily. If one of them spun a little too much, we could all have ended up in the trees up there. »

"In the car, it feels even tighter than the video shows. When I put my nose between the two cars, it was very close, he details. I arrived behind, took advantage of a bit of momentum, started to follow the Ferrari, then I moved to the right. The BMW closed a bit, so I settled back in the middle. It was a good moment of adrenaline in the race."

While very satisfied with the Peugeot's pace at the end of this race, the prevailing feeling remains disappointment. However, this doesn't seem to be turning into despondency a month before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Despite the contact that caused the retirement of the No. 94 car, Peugeot finally appears able to raise its head on French soil.
