Porsche slightly modifies its crews for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, third round of the 2025 season of the World ChampionshipEnduranceIn Belgium, Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller will make their debut with Porsche Penske Motorsport in the Hypercar category. The German driver will be driving the No. 963 6 alongside Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor, while the Swiss driver will drive with Michael Christensen and Julien Andlauer in the No. 5.
This choice was made in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Wehrlein will indeed be present in the Sarthe in the Porsche n°4 alongside Nick Tandy and Felipe Nasr, while the former driver Peugeot will be the German manufacturer's reserve driver for the double round-the-clock race. The two men have already had the opportunity to drive the German prototype in competition this season, at the 24 Hours of Daytona for the champion of Formula E in title, and at the 12 Hours of Sebring for the Swiss, each time with the customer team JDC-Miller MotorSports.
« Compete in my FIA debut WEC at Spa-Francorchamps is an excellent opportunity in the run-up to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It allows me to become even more familiar with how Porsche Penske Motorsport operates – every kilometer covered with the Porsche 963 is precious, explains Pascal Wehrlein. Alongside Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor, I have two experienced teammates from whom I have a lot to learn. I'm really looking forward to racing on a circuit as legendary as Spa. »
« I am super happy to support Porsche Penske Motorsport as an official reserve driver at Le Mans and to be able to make my contribution to the major goal – although, of course, I hope not to have to intervene, adds Nico Müller. I am also looking forward to returning to the WEC and competing in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps alongside Julien Andlauer and Michael Christensen. After my stint at Sebring in IMSA and the tests carried out, I will be able to accumulate some more important laps at the wheel of the Porsche 963. It is a fantastic opportunity, and I would like to thank Porsche Penske Motorsport as well as my Formula E team, Andretti, for making it possible. » The two men will replace Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet respectively, who are held up by the IMSA round at Laguna Seca.
