“We have received a lot of interest from potential and strong teams. The decision was not easy to make, underlines Thomas Laudenbach, vice-president of Porsche Motorsport. However, as places on the grid are limited, we had to make this decision. Our choice fell on Manthey Racing for several reasons. »
“Apart from the fact that it is a subsidiary, several other factors speak in favor of Manthey: the team knows the Porsche 911 GT3 R very well having participated in DTM races and great classics of the endurance, among others. In addition, Manthey knows the specifics of the WEC perfectly thanks to his many years of racing with the Porsche 911 RSR. »
“Finally, Porsche's successful history with the team is an important factor: with Manthey we won the world championship and three class victories at Le Mans. We are confident that we will be well represented in the new LMGT3 class next year. »
Porsche finally specifies that “the name of the team and the drivers with whom Manthey Racing will compete in the WEC in 2024 will be announced at a later date. »
