Le WEC 2025 is fast approaching. The Prologue will take place on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 February before the opening race of the season, the 1812 km of Qatar, on Friday 28 February.
For this exercise, the Toyota GR010 Hybrid has not undergone any significant changes, apart from the mandatory new LED panels on the sidepods, indicating the position and time of pit stops.
The Japanese manufacturer will also continue to trust the same two crews: Mike conway, Kamui Kobayashi et Nyck de Vries on n°7, Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa on No. 8.
« We have won six consecutive world championships as a constructor, so the challenge is of course to secure the seventh, says Kamui Kobayashi, driver and Team Principal of the n°7 ahead of the Qatari meeting. Last year we missed out on the drivers' title, so this year our goal is to win both, but it will be difficult. Plus a new manufacturer with Aston Martin, the returning manufacturers will come back stronger and with more experience, so I expect it to be more competitive than ever. »
Despite winning the constructors' title, Toyota Gazoo Racing will be keen to return to winning ways in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, after two defeats against Ferrari.
« We have no advantage, and we will have to challenge ourselves to improve in all areas to stay on top., Kobayashi adds. We need to make the most of our car setup in every race, show even more team spirit and fight for every position. We have great support from the rest of the Toyota family and our partners; every year I feel like we are getting closer and stronger. »
« Starting a new season is very interesting and exciting, adds Sébastien Buemi, driver of the Toyota No. 8. We won the Constructors' World Championship last year and we clearly want to continue that momentum to go even further. We worked together as a team to analyse everything that went wrong and improve in many areas to come back stronger than ever. Last year Qatar was not one of our strongest races so we want to do better. We want to show from the start of the season that we are fighting at the front. »
The first WEC Prologue practice session will begin at 11:00 a.m. (French time) on Friday, February 21.
