The four chosen ones who will have the honor of driving the new Corvette Z06 GT3.R are now known. Corvette Racing revealed this Monday the identity of the four new factory drivers for the 2024 season. Daniel Juncadella, Earl Bamber, Charlie Eastwood and Nico Varrone will be part of the group that will drive in the GT categories or in the championship IMSA, or in the World Endurance Championship (WEC)... or both.

These four drivers therefore officially join the American fold alongside those already present, namely Antonio Garcia, Tommy Milner, Nicky Catsburg and Alexander Sims. All eight drivers will collectively compete as factory drivers for Corvette Racing.

A double program for Juncadella, Bamber between GT and Hypercar

The main information is the recruitment of Dani Juncadella, ex-pilot Classic Mercedes for sale. The Spaniard will even respect a double IMSA-WEC program: associated with Earl Bamber in IMSA within the Pratt Miller Motorsports team, in GTD Pro, he will also join TF Sport for a full season in the LMGT3 category in WEC and in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“I have witnessed first-hand what it means to be a Corvette driver in the United States. It's pretty exciting, to be honest, confided Dani Juncadella. At every autograph session in IMSA, when I sat next to the Corvette tent, there was a line of 100 people wanting to get an autograph from their driver, and we were just sitting there! It's very exciting, I have to say, to see the legacy that Corvette Racing has created in the United States and to see the awareness of the brand, it's very exciting. I am proud and feel unique to be a factory Corvette driver. »

Earl Bamber, he will only participate in the events ofEndurance Cup in IMSA with Corvette and keeps his seat with Cadillac, in the Hypercar category in WEC. Dani Juncadella and Earl Bamber will also be present at the 24 Hours of Daytona, the first with Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims, the second with Tommy Milner and Nicky Catsburg.

Eastwood continues with TF Sport

A few hours after announcing his departure from Aston Martin, Charlie Eastwood finds refuge at Corvette Racing where he will be competing in the WEC, still with TF Sport. “It’s really beneficial [to stay with TF Sport], explains the British pilot. Obviously this is a completely new car with new regulations moving from GTE to GT3, so already knowing the whole team and engineers I feel like it can give us an advantage over the how quickly we can develop a completely new car. The time frame is very short between receipt of the car and the few days of testing before arriving in Qatar. We need to make sure we make the most of the time we have together. »

For his part, Nico Varrone continues the adventure with Corvette after a successful season in WEC with the title of champion in GTE Am, being promoted to factory driver within the American firm. The Argentinian will be entered on the other side of the Atlantic, in the IMSA championship, with the AWA team alongside Anthony Mantella.

“As we move towards GT3 and customer competitions, it is important that we complete our list of drivers available to teams, said Christie Bagne, Corvette Z06 GT3.R program manager. We're excited about the depth of experience our Corvette factory team has. GM and our teams will benefit from the experience of each driver. »
