British driver Jamie Chadwick took the wheel of Genesis' GMR-001 Hypercar for the first time, which will make its WEC debut next year.

Now a reserve driver, Jamie Chadwick took the wheel of the Genesis Hypercar

Still a member of the Korean manufacturer's Trajectory Programme, Jamie Chadwick was able to discover the GMR-001 Hypercar at Magny-Cours, for which she will be one of the development drivers throughout the first year of competition for the group's machine. HyundaiThe 27-year-old driver participated in a test session with her teammates from theELMS, Mathys Jaubert and Dani Juncadella, as well as the first two drivers confirmed by Genesis, André Lotterer and Pipo Derani.

"My first laps driving the GMR-001 Hypercar were incredible."Chadwick explained. "It's a really impressive car and very fast in a straight line. As a driver, you have many different systems, tools that you can use to make a difference. Obviously, a lot of things change and evolve with each session the team completes, but it's simply a great car to drive, and a fantastic team that I'm proud to be a part of."

In addition to his role as a development driver, Jamie Chadwick will be a reserve driver for Genesis during the upcoming World Championship season.EnduranceThe Hyundai Group brand will make its Endurance debut during the season that will begin on March 28 in Qatar.

“It’s truly special to be involved in the development of the GMR-001 Hypercar. It’s a new step in my career that I’m very proud of. Becoming a reserve driver in Hypercar brings me a little closer to my ultimate goal. I’m looking forward to more testing and driving, and I’ll try to make the most of this role and make the most of it.”

As a side note, Jamie Chadwick became the second female driver to pilot a Hypercar. WEC, after Lilou Wadoux, who drove in the Toyota GR010 Hybrid and the Classic Ferrari for sale 499P. Genesis Magma Racing sporting director Gabriele Tarquini was pleased with this first test run.

"It's always very useful to have the opinion of a new driver who doesn't know the car at all. Jamie had a fantastic season with our Trajectory program in European Le Mans Series. As a development driver for the GMR-001 Hypercar, she will play a vital role within our team going forward, helping us prepare for races and progress as needed during our inaugural season.
