A special pole for Sarah Bovy and the Iron Dames on “the Senna circuit”

The Belgian driver claimed a second pole after the one obtained at home, at Spa-Francorchamps last May. A pole obtained with authority, since the No. 85 Lamborghini was faster by almost four tenths compared to the Porsche n°92 by Manthey PureRxcing, and the very fast Aliaksandr Malykhin. The Liégeoise was moved when receiving the medal symbolizing her best time in Hyperpole, on a special circuit for her.

“It’s very special to be on pole here, it’s a legendary circuit, Ayrton Senna’s circuit! For drivers of my generation, he is an idol. We know how good he was in qualifying so it was very important for us to get pole here. Thanks to my teammates, we worked on the settings together, and it resulted in a really great package to be able to attack during this session! Looking forward to Sunday! »

Michelle Gatting “a little bit jealous”

Bovy notably teams up with Michelle Gatting, who obviously had a smile on her face at the end of the qualifying session. Even though as a driver, she knows that a car this good doesn't come along often, and so she would have preferred to be able to take part in qualifying! But the regulation of WEC is thus done, and it is the pilot classified as “Bronze” who must carry out the qualifications…

“All the drivers would like to qualify but we have one of the best qualifying drivers! I’m very happy for the whole team, I’m a little bit jealous because the car looked really great”, explained the Danish pilot. “It’s a good starting point for the 6 Hours, and we’ll see where it takes us! »

For the third member of the Iron Dames, Rahel Frey, pole position is confirmation of a good period for the pink GT3s. Indeed, in a Porsche this time, the Bovy-Gatting-Frey trio won the 4 Hours of Imola in ELMS last weekend : “It was at the end of the first part of the season that we started to gain momentum, which is very important. We're keeping that for the moment, we won in the ELMS at Imola, and if we could win here on Sunday that would be incredible. We have our work cut out for us, but we're ready for it! »
