Surprise: Vector Sport will not participate in the WEC with Isotta Fraschini!

The story is already over before it really begins. Vector Sport and Isotta Fraschini are already separating, even before the official competition debut of the Tipo-6, expected for the WEC in 2024. The British team therefore announces its absence from the World Endurance Championship next year.

According to the press release published by Vector Sport, despite the collaboration announced in December 2022 between the two entities for a presence in Hypercar with the Italian mount, the Milanese manufacturer would not have respected its commitments in the development of the Tipo-6.

Since the spring of 2023, Vector Sport expected to manage the Hypercar's testing and development program – as originally agreed – in preparation for competition in 2024. In reality, Isotta Fraschini would not have shared the Tipo-6 Competizione neither communicated any data, “despite repeated requests” says Gary Holland’s team.

“The level of disappointment we feel with Isotta Fraschini's position is difficult to express, regrets the Vector Sport Team Manager. We have had minimal access and participation in the development of this new Hypercar, despite a strong prior agreement on testing and development of the race car with a view to 2024. So we have no idea of the how the development of the Isotta has progressed. »

Vector Sport aims for WEC return in 2025

The commercial director of Vector Sport, Adam Shore, also explains that Isotta Fraschini did not respect the conditions of the contract signed in 2022. “ Their approach was uncompromising and, ultimately, a blatant violation. We of course have a range of legal options, but we are a professional racing team aligned with the best interests of the sport. The FIA World Endurance Championship and these interests are paramount in our minds. As Gary said, our focus at the moment is on reaching agreements for a competitive WEC campaign in 2025. »

Gary Holland nevertheless reassures about the presence of his team in ELMS, while explaining work on a new program for 2025. “Vector Sport has entered LM P2 in the European Le Mans Series for 2024, as was announced before the end of the WEC season, but we have no options in the WEC at this late stage. However, we have already started positive negotiations for 2025 and we look forward to working with a manufacturer in WEC who aligns with our values and ambitions. » Isotta Fraschini Milano, for its part, announced a partnership with Duqueine.

Certainly a hard blow for the British team but also for Gabriel Aubry, Vector Sport driver and legitimate contender for a seat aboard the Isotta Fraschini in 2024. The Frenchman expressed his support for his team via social networks.
