A few weeks before the grand departure of the 94th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, WEC sets up shop in Belgium. Considered the final preparation before the Le Mans classic, the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps hosts the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) this weekend (May 7-9), three weeks after the victory of Toyota on the lands of Classic Ferrari for sale in Imola.

On the crew side, some drivers will be making their return after missing the first round at Imola (following a calendar clash with the North American Endurance Championship, theIMSA), starting first with the Hypercar. BMW M Team WRT will be able to count on the return of Dries Vanthoor alongside Kevin Magnussen and Raffaele Marciello in the No. 15, as well as Sheldon van der Linde who will accompany Robin Frijns and René Rast in the sister car, the No. 20. Both drivers were absent from the opening round at Imola due to their commitments in Long Beach in IMSA.

Cadillac will also be keen to make amends. Well-positioned in Italy before a penalty for failing to respect the yellow flag, the British team knows the Ardennes circuit well. It was indeed here that the No. 12 car triumphed in 2024 (when the team was still running...) Porsche 963), thus becoming the first private team to triumph in the Hypercar era. Will Stevens and Frenchman Norman Nato will be joined by Louis Delétraz, who is being offered his first-ever seat in a WEC Hypercar. The Swiss driver, a multiple champion ELMS and a regular IMSA driver in the V-Series.R, will replace Alex Lynn, who suffered a neck injury. In the sister car, No. 38, Earl Bamber and Sébastien Bourdais will welcome Jack Aitken for his debut as a full-time WEC driver.

In LMGT3, a few adjustments are worth noting. Eduardo, or rather "Dudu," returns to his starting position behind the wheel of theAston Martin Vantage. The son of the former driver of F1 Rubens Barrichello will make his debut with The Heart of Racing in the WEC after a season with Racing Spirit of Léman, while TF Sport continues with American Blake McDonald in the No. 33 Corvette, replacing Ben Keating, who is still suffering from a fractured elbow caused in an accident during a test session.

The 35 crews will set off on Saturday at 14:00 PM on the 7,004 km circuit for what promises to be a thrilling six-hour race. Always a demanding and often unpredictable event, it will serve as a dress rehearsal for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
