Last October, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest announced the creation in 2016 of the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup, championship reserved for cars meeting GT3 regulations and contested on five of the six meetings of the European Le Mans Series, plus a race run on the sidelines of the weekend of 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 18-19).
This Friday, the ACO confirmed that the LM P3 prototypes evolving in the ACO series (ELMS and Asian Le Mans Series) will be able to join the peloton of this support event of the Sarthois double clock tower, which will be organized on Saturday morning over a period of one hour.
Before the race, a practice session and a qualifying session of one hour each will be carried out during the week of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. During the event, a pit stop, of a minimum duration which will be fixed later, will be imposed. One or two drivers may be fielded per car.
