The last days, the fear of a postponement of the WEC Prologue was growing. This Friday, the FIA ​​confirmed the postponement of the Prologue by two days: it will finally take place on Monday February 26 and Tuesday February 27 on the Losail circuit, in Qatar, a few days before the launch of the season. WEC with the 1812km of Qatar. This program, initially scheduled for Saturday February 24 and Sunday February 25, was modified due to a delay in maritime freight due to the current situation in the Red Sea where many ships have been targeted since November by Yemen's Houthi rebels.

“This timetable change results from the current geopolitical situation, where regular shipping lines have suffered significant delays in the Suez Canal and the Red Sea. As a result, some sea freight was delayed upon arrival at Lusail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar. In order to allow the WEC teams to have sufficient time to prepare for testing, it has been decided to delay the start of the Prologue” communicated the WEC this Friday.

The WEC has therefore changed the entire agenda for this 2024 Prologue, with three sessions scheduled for Monday February 26 and only one on Tuesday February 27, in order to leave sufficient space between the last practice session of the Prologue and the first practice session. free practice for the 1812km of Qatar, scheduled for Thursday February 29 at 12:20 p.m. Monday February 26 will be a busy day for the 37 crews on the grid, with a long driving schedule between 6:30 a.m. and 20:00 p.m. (French time).
