Vice President of Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe, Kazuki Nakajima confirmed to the Japanese media present at the 6 Hours of Fuji last weekend the introduction for next season of an evolution package on the Toyota GR010, as was done by BMW for example, which has already shown photos of the new nose of its BMW M Hybrid V8 in testing.
"We are working on introducing an evolution for next year.", Nakajima said. "At the beginning of October, we will test the car equipped with this new aerodynamic package for the first time. As a team, we are working together and continuing our preparations with the firm intention of winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year. To be honest, we've been considering this development since last year, and we even thought about launching it this year, but partly because of the change in the homologation wind tunnel location, we decided to postpone it for a year."
This Wednesday, the Japanese brand released obscure renderings, serving as a "teaser" before the reveal in the coming days of the car on the track. While deliberately wanting to keep some information secret, we can notably notice the presence of a new light signature, which would indicate a change in the aerodynamics of the front of the car, with lights going more towards the center of the prototype, as is done for example at Alpine or on the future Genesis GMR-001.

The rear of the machine is also modified, now with a more sculpted rear spoiler, and rear lights which now take up the entire width of the Hypercar, as does for example Porsche with its 963. Other details will certainly be visible once the car is presented, the side views do not show for the moment a big change compared to the GR010.
Toyota's Hypercar debuted in competition in 2021, making it the oldest car still racing. The Japanese manufacturer first used one or more evolution jokers in 2023, with a revised front end. This new package, planned for 2026, would also be part of the five jokers each manufacturer has during the homologation period for its Hypercar. Toyota has never disclosed the number of jokers used.
The Japanese brand is currently experiencing its worst season in the WEC since the start of the Hypercar era in 2021, still being deprived of victories before the final round of the season, the 8 Hours of Bahrain, next November.
