Antonio Giovinazzi, what do you think of this new livery for the Ferrari 499?
First of all, it’s nice to be here in Fiorano and to present this new livery for this season. Of course, it’s red, but this one is a bit different, a bit darker. I like it a lot and I hope the car will be as fast as it is beautiful. It will be an important season for us after fantastic results at Le Mans in the last two years. Now we want to try to win the championship, which will be our main goal this year. Winning Le Mans is also one of our goals, of course, but the championship is the priority. We showed very good speed last year, the car was fast on almost all the tracks. What we lacked mainly was consistency and that is what we will need this year.
How did you prepare for this new season?
We tried to learn from the mistakes we made last year. That was our main problem last year. We also have a lot to improve on the car. It's still new, it's only two years old, but we already have a lot of data. We worked very hard from there during the winter. The first race of the season is in Qatar where we struggled last year. If we can get a really good result there, it would be a good way to start the season.
Do you think the competition will be stronger than last year?
We have a builder in the fight with Aston Martin, plus tough opponents like Porsche, Toyota, BMW, Alpine. It will be nice, especially since Qatar is a race of about ten hours. It is very hard physically and for the car as well, especially with the high temperatures. It will be demanding to start in Qatar.
Do you think you can win Le Mans for a third year in a row?
We will try! It will be difficult, Le Mans is always a special and long race. Anybody can win. I tell you, winning Le Mans is not easy at all. However, we have managed it two years in a row, so we will try to do it a third time.
