Race 1 of the Abu Dhabi 4 Hours was marked by many twists and turns before smiling once again on the crew of the No. 04 Oreca of Algarve Pro Racing.

Starting from scratch after Roberto Lacorte's off-track excursion in qualifying, Charles Milesi initially made an excellent start to the race. Competing against the Bronze-rated drivers in the field, the Frenchman quickly put the Cetilar Racing car in the lead after about ten minutes. The driver Alpine en WEC was relieved by Lacorte, the Italian however spun out a little over a quarter of an hour before the end of the first hour.

Starting from pole position, the #5 United Autosports Oreca then took the lead, but misfortune struck the British team again. Already suffering from a mechanical issue in Dubai the previous weekend, the prototype driven by Giorgio Roda, Grégoire Saucy, and Mikkel Jensen was forced to return to the pits, suspected of a transmission failure.

At the halfway point, the lead had returned to the #20 Oreca of Matthias Kaiser, John Falb, and Sami Meguetounif for Algarve Pro Racing. However, the outcome remained uncertain until the very end. Leading with just over half an hour remaining, the #25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca, driven in part by Tom Dillmann, nearly ran out of fuel. Forced to slow down to the pits, the Frenchman lost valuable time, handing the advantage to the third car of the Portuguese team, the #04, supported by CrowdStrike.

Team WRT takes a one-two finish in GT

Led by Louis Delétraz in the final stint, the No. 04 Oreca, which he shares with Malthe Jakobsen and George Kurtz, ultimately secured its third consecutive victory after the one-two finish in Dubai the previous weekend. This win puts the trio in the championship lead with one race remaining, ahead of Cetilar Racing.

Behind them, Kaiser, Falb, and Meguetounif secured second place ahead of Romain Dumas' RD Limited team, comprised of Fred Poordad, James Allen, and Tristan Vautier. Inter Europol Competition took the LMP3 victory with the Ligier JS P325 co-driven by Alexander Bukhantsov, Chun Ting Chou, and Henry Cubides Olarte. Team WRT achieved a one-two finish in GT, with the #69 BMW M4 GT3 of Anthony McIntosh, Parker Thompson, and Dan Harper finishing ahead of the #28 of Rinat Salikhov, Gabriele Piana, and Augusto Farfus.

Join us this Sunday at 13:30 PM (French time) for the start of the 4 Hours of Abu Dhabi 2, the final round of the 2025-2026 Asian Championship season. Le Mans Series.
