While the first race of the weekend at Sepang was marked by very light showers that made tire choice difficult at the right pace, the second race saw true Asian monsoon rains strike twice, the second of which forced race control to deploy the red flag and stop the race with fifteen minutes remaining. Paul di Resta (United Autosports #6) and Julien Gerbi (Team Virage #1) got stuck in two different gravel traps with 25 minutes left, necessitating the intervention of the safety car.

With regulations closing the pit lane during the first three laps of a Safety Car period, the arrival of rain forced drivers to remain on slick tires on a completely soaked track. As the LMP2, LMP3, and GT3 cars were unable to even keep up with the Safety Car, a red flag was the only possible outcome.

This secured a second consecutive victory for Cetilar Racing, marking a dream debut in the Asian Le Mans Series. The Italian team makes no secret of its ambition to clinch the title and earn an invitation to the... 24 Hours of Le Mans 2026. After a strong start from Roberto Lacorte, Charles Milesi and Antonio Fuoco once again demonstrated their speed during their stints. While the rain caught the Bronze drivers off guard in the first hour of the race, it was heavier this time than on Saturday, allowing a large portion of the field to switch to rain tires. The few brave souls who remained on slicks either ended up in the gravel traps or lost a significant amount of time.

At the front, Algarve Pro Racing made the most of their opportunity, making only one pit stop, and John Falb led the race in the #20 Oreca. Unsurprisingly, the Bronze-rated driver lost seconds lap after lap to Charles Milesi. The Frenchman then took the lead after another series of pit stops, but found himself with the other APR car, the #25, right on his heels! Once Antonio Fuoco and Enzo Trulli took over their respective cars, the battle became an all-Italian affair, but it quickly turned in favor of Cetilar Racing.

A very different race from Saturday's ultimately produced the same podium, with Crowdstrike Racing by APR once again finishing in third position, with Malthe Jakobsen, Louis Delétraz, and George Kurtz. In LMP3, after narrowly missing victory on Saturday, CLX Motorsport triumphed with the #17, while in GT3, the victory went to... Ferrari 296 GT3 No. 74 of Kessel Racing. The Asian Le Mans Series season continues on January 31st and February 1st with two 4-hour races in Dubai.
