48 cars at the start for the season opener in Sepang

The 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series season kicks off in Sepang, Malaysia, from December 12-14, with a grid of 48 cars: 16 LMP2, 10 LMP3, and 22 LMGT3, representing an increase of nearly 15% compared to last year. The event will bring together 142 drivers and 35 teams representing 35 countries.

LMP2: a record-breaking lineup

Sixteen cars will be competing for the LMP2 title and for an automatic invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2026. Among the participants, reigning champions Algarve Pro Racing will field two Oreca 07-Gibson cars and a third car for Crowdstrike Racing by APR. United Autosports, Proton Competition, Cetilar Racing, and Ponos Racing will also be present, with experienced drivers and young talents.

Among the drivers, note the presence of Malthe Jakobsen, Louis Delétraz (Crowdstrike Racing by APR), Grégoire Saucy, Mikkel Jensen (United Autosports), Sami Meguetounif (Algarve Pro Racing nº20), Enzo Trulli, Tom Dillmann (Algarve Pro Racing nº25), Tristan Vautier (RD Limited), Nick Cassidy (Inter Europol Competition), Yann Ehrlacher, Matthieu Vaxiviere (ARC Bratislava), Charles Milesi, Antonio Fuoco (Cetilar Racing) and Gustavo Menezes (High Class Racing).

LMP3: Ten cars for the first round

The LMP3 grid will consist of ten cars, with the introduction of the new generation of prototypes powered by Toyota in Asia. Reigning champions Bretton Racing will return to defend their title, while CLX Motorsport will field a team of experienced drivers. Team Virage will notably include Indian driver Ajith Kumar and Narain Karthikeyan.

LMGT3: Seven manufacturers represented

The GT category will include 22 cars and seven manufacturers: Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Classic Ferrari for sale, McLaren, Classic Mercedes for sale-AMG and PorscheManthey, TF Sport, Team WRT and AF Corse are among the teams entered. Local and Asian drivers will also be present, including Brunei princes Jefri and Abu Bakar Ibrahim in a Corvette and Thai driver Carl Wattana Bennett in a Ferrari.

Several pilots from WEC will be taking part, including Alessio Rovera, Alessandro Pier Guidi, Sean Gelael, Marco Sørensen and Frenchman François Hériau, who will be competing in his first race on Manthey’s Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The two four-hour races will take place on December 13th and 14th at 13:00 PM (local time). The 2025/26 season will consist of six rounds in total, with double-headers at Sepang, Dubai, and Yas Marina. The other two events will be held in January and February.
