4H of Abu Dhabi 1 – Algarve Pro Racing takes a double

• Algarve Pro Racing is virtually untouchable in this 2024-2025 season of the Asian Le Mans Series. Apart from the inaugural round in Sepang (Malaysia) won at the beginning of December by RD Limited, the Portuguese team has won the other four races contested so far. The latest being the 4 Hours of Abu Dhabi 1, the first round of the final double header contested this Saturday, February 15 on the Yas Marina circuit.
• The APR team even scored a one-two finish in this race, with both cars battling for victory on the last lap. The battle was not very intense on the track between Alex Quinn and Malthe Jakobsen, with the former using a fuel-saving strategy in the hope of seeing the checkered flag while his pursuer had just made a final refueling stop. The driver Peugeot Sport easily got around his teammate at Turn 3 to cruise to victory. The third in this exercise for the Dane, accompanied in the Oreca 07 n°25 by Michael Jensen and Valerio Rinicella.
• Quinn managed to conserve enough fuel to cross the line in second, keeping his trio of Olli Caldwell and Kriton Lentoudis in title contention with their teammates ahead of Sunday's final race of the season.
• The victory of this event seemed for a long time promised to the Oreca 07 n°22 of Proton Competition, which started from pole position. Giorgio Roda, Vladislav Lomko and Tom Dillmann dominated the race until a penalty was imposed for a collision with the Oreca 07 n°83 of AF Corse (François Perrodo, Matthieu Vaxiviere, Alessio Rovera). The three men finally completed the podium.
• In LM P3, the #320 RLR M Sport Ligier JS P15 of Nick Adock, Ian Aguilera and Christian Short won. In GT, victory went to the Porsche 911 GT3 R n°92 of Manthey EMA co-driven by Ryan Hardwick, Riccardo Pera and Richard Lietz.
• The race ended 30 minutes later than originally scheduled after an accident between GTs at the start of the race, causing a lengthy red flag for barrier repairs.
