If the first hour of these 4 Hours of Abu Dhabi was hectic, the second was not much calmer! The No. 83 Oreca from the AF Corse team, currently driven by Alessio Rovera, is in the lead at mid-race ahead of the No. 90 TF Sport of Michael Dinan, after a long period of Safety Car regime. The safety car was deployed when the No. 8 Attempto Racing Audi R11 stopped in the Turn 9 escape route with a shattered left rear wheel.

While the entire field was preparing to restart after around ten minutes of waiting, a major accident occurred in the middle of the peloton as they approached turn 1. In total confusion, the Oreca no. 99 from the 99 Racing team (leading the LM P2 championship before the start) hit the car head-on Porsche 911 GT3 R n°91 from PureRxcing (leading the GT championship before the start at the first corner! The two cars, seriously damaged, were forced to retire, which completely revived the two championships!

When the race restarted after almost half an hour of interruption, AF Corse and Alessio Rovera got the better of Michael Dinan's TF Sport. In LM P3, COOL Racing ceded control of the category to Bretton Racing, while in GT, Triple Eight took the lead of the race thanks to an overtake by Luca Stolz on the long straight at Yas Marina against Alban Varutti on his Audi R8 from the Saintéloc team.
