Following Cetilar Racing's two victories at Sepang at the end of last year, Crowdstrike Racing by APR responded with two wins on the Dubai track. This delighted the final driver of the trio, Louis Delétraz, who had the pleasure of crossing the finish line first each time… even if it wasn't always easy!
"It's fantastic, two wins in two days, it's a perfect weekend! It's also very good for the championship, thanks to the whole team, to my teammates who didn't make any mistakes. We had to fight for this one, nobody gave it to us, so I'm really very happy."
Bronze driver George Kurtz was responsible for qualifying the car and also for starting the race by participating in the first stint. Disappointed with his qualifying position, the American managed to climb back up the order, putting his teammate Malthe Jakobsen in an excellent position.
“My teammates were incredible, they made some superb overtaking maneuvers. We kept our heads, we did what we had to do. We didn't start from the position we hoped for, but we finished where we wanted to finish. I couldn't be prouder of the team and my two teammates.”
The Dane had to temper his enthusiasm, however, as the team's strategy, as in Saturday's race, called for a final stint on new tires. This meant a double stint with the same Michelin tires before evening, when temperatures were still quite high, on a circuit that was not kind to tires.
“It was nice to take over from George, who had managed to bring the car up the order well. From then on, there were some good battles, but we also had to manage the tires to ensure we had a fresh set at the end of the race. So I had to take care of my tires so that Louis could start his stint on the same ones, and I’m very happy to see that everything went well with the team.”
In the championship, the trio in car #4 are now only three points behind car #47 of Cetilar Racing, before the last two rounds of the season in Abu Dhabi.
