They say that sometimes history repeats itself. In the case of the championship IMSA 2025, this is the fourth time in as many races that the scenario has been identical in terms of results in the premier class! BMW took pole position thanks to Dries Vanthoor, before Porsche take the upper hand in the race. This time, however, the hero at the end of the film was not wearing the number 7, as in the first three rounds of the season, but rather the number 6 of Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell. It was strategically that the Franco/Australian duo won against Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy.
By stopping first, after 51 minutes of racing, the drivers of the No. 6 car were able to perform a perfect undercut on their rivals. However, this required significant energy conservation, particularly in the first stint, in order to shorten the pit stop time as much as possible. Despite an anti-stall issue after contact with a GTD a few minutes earlier that had caused him to lose two places, Matt Campbell handed the wheel to Mathieu Jaminet in fifth position. Once all the stops had been completed, the Frenchman was in the lead and held on until the finish.
"The race was very tough, but what made the difference was the team's excellent strategy.", said Jaminet. “There was a lot of energy saving in the first stint to try to make a much earlier pit stop compared to the sister car. It worked out well in the end. It was fun. I was stuck behind the backmarkers for a long time and it allowed the field to come back at the end of the race. I didn't want to take too many risks, but at certain moments I had to. It was exciting for the fans, and also in the car. I drove the last few laps as if I was in qualifying.”
Nick Tandy and Felipe Nasr, who finished second, almost lost everything when they found themselves stuck behind the Pfaff Motorsports GTD in the final corners. The #24 BMW then went for broke entering the final corner to finish third, but the three cars collided! The GTD and the Porsche 963 were able to finish safely, while the BMW driven by Dries Vanthoor had to get away with a gravel ride, which didn't stop him from finishing on the podium.
Porsche also won in GTD Pro, thanks to the No. 911 AO Racing Porsche 3 GT77 R. Be careful, though, it wasn't Rexy the green dinosaur on the track this time, but Roxy, the pink version! Mercedes-Winward Racing's #3 AMG GT57 won the GTD class. IMSA competitors will return to the track at the end of May on the streets of Detroit.

I can't understand how Porsche can be so weak in WEC when they are so strong in IMSA.
