Will BMW change its team for theIMSA in 2026? Until now, the German manufacturer has been associated with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. This partnership began with the M Hybrid V8's racing debut at the 24 2023 Hours of Daytona. As they enter their third season together, this collaboration has been marked by two victories: at Watkins Glen in 2023 and at Indianapolis in 2024.

"It's a completely normal process, Andreas Roos, Head of Motorsport at BMW, told us in the paddock of the 6 Hours of Imola, the second round of the 2025 season of the World Championship.EnduranceWe don't talk about contract details, but we don't build 20-year projects. Sometimes there are discussions with the drivers about whether we want to continue together, and it's the same with the teams. That's exactly what we're doing right now. It's happening earlier and earlier: normally, these discussions take place mid-year, after the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But with the competition becoming increasingly competitive, many drivers and teams are already interested in talking to us. We are evaluating all the options available to us, and RLL is obviously one of them."

According to our colleagues RACER, Chip Ganassi Racing and Pratt Miller Motorsports are also said to be in the running to potentially take over the operation of German prototypes in IMSA.

In Qatar, during the first meeting of the year, Roos had already confirmed to us the interest of several teams in running the Bavarian prototype in IMSA, even if nothing had yet been decided: "We have a lot of requests for customer cars, especially in the United States, but we'll see. I can't tell you right now which way it's going to go."
