Despite the prior attention paid to historical decorations, particularly those inspired by Apple, Porsche Penske Motorsport, the hierarchy on track was clear: the Cadillacs monopolized the top three places during this first 90-minute session.
Louis Delétraz set the fastest time at the wheel of the No. 40 Cadillac V-Series.R, ahead of the two other prototypes from the American manufacturer. The Swiss driver finished ahead of Filipe Albuquerque (No. 10) and Jack Aitken (No. 31), the latter having led the timesheets for much of the race.
Aitken had set an initial benchmark of 1:15.026, before being beaten in the final minutes by Albuquerque (1:14.893), then by Delétraz, who set a lap time of 1:14.333. A time which relegates the best non-Cadillac, the No. 6 Porsche 963 of Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor, to nearly seven tenths behind.
