In 2024, Porsche had a golden year. Whether in IMSA or in the World Championship ofEndurance, the 963 has won almost all the crowns in the premier category: only the Constructors' title in WEC escaped him in the last moments against Toyota. For the rest, everything has smiled on the Stuttgart firm, with Drivers' titles and prestigious victories. So, after such a harvest, what will be the German team's objective in 2025? To do as well, or even better!

Statuses to defend

This year again, Porsche has the ambition to sweep the board and the harvest could begin this weekend with the 24 Hours of Daytona, the opening round of the Endurance season and the IMSA championship. In Florida, the German manufacturer will have three statuses to defend: that of reigning champion in the category, that of big favorite for the overall victory… but also that of reigning winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona, one year after the victory of the 963 n°7 of the quartet Dane Cameron – Matt Campbell – Felipe Nasr – Josef Newgarden.

"Daytona was the springboard for many successes last year. The competition will be even tougher in 2025, but our ambitions remain intact, says Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport. We are aiming for another overall victory and are well prepared to face the fierce competition in the top GTP class and both GTD categories. Our racing cars represent the Porsche brand on racetracks around the world as ambassadors, and we want to see the Porsche 963 and 911 GT3 R at the front of the pack!”

Porsche « exceptionally well prepared” for Daytona

"The last twelve months have gone by very quickly. A lot has happened since our victory a year ago, adds Jonathan Diuguid, Managing Director of Porsche Penske Motorsport. We go into this year’s race exceptionally well prepared. Our test sessions in November 2024 and last weekend were positive. There were a few minor technical issues here and there, but that’s exactly what test sessions are for: to sort things out. I’m optimistic going into the next race.”

At Daytona, Porsche will be present with four 963s, with the two official Penske Motorsport Porsches, but also with the two private 963s from Proton Competition and JDC Miller MotorSports. Four Frenchmen will be at the wheel of the German LMDhs in Florida: Mathieu Jaminet and Kévin Estre in the #6 Penske Porsche, as well as Julien Andlauer and Tristan Vautier on the Proton Competition n°5. « After our successes in 2024, we approach the new season with great confidence and great ambitions., confides Mathieu Jaminet. Last year, our sister car won Daytona, and now we want to take the No. 6 car to the top. Matt and I are a duo again this season, and Kevin will support us in the first race. We are ready to be there! Not having problems at the beginning of the race and attacking at the end is always the key at Daytona."
