Acura is back on top. The Japanese manufacturer, partnered with Meyer Shank Racing, triumphed on the streets of Detroit thanks to the solid performance of the Nick Yelloly and Renger van der Zande duo, who drove a clean and decisive race at the wheel of the No. 06 ARX-93.

Already performing well in qualifying, where he secured pole position, Nick Yelloly laid the foundations for success in the opening laps. Although he briefly lost ground during the pit stops, the Briton then saw his teammate take over with authority.

“Obviously very happy to win, Yelloly reacted. We had a good start and a good first stint. We lost a few positions in the middle because of the pit stop rotation, which we definitely need to look at. But Renger did a hell of a job; the two passes he made were very decisive and made the difference today. I think when the fuel drained from our car, it came back to life. A perfect way for Acura, HRC and Meyer Shank Racing to get back on top."

Van der Zande concludes work for Acura

It was therefore Renger van der Zande who concluded the work in style, securing a victory which confirms the return to form of MSR and the Japanese brand whose last victory dates back to a year ago, already in the streets of Detroit, with Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor, now at Cadillac and second this Saturday in the capital of Michigan.

“Victory in Detroit! I love this place even more now,” the Dutchman enthuses. “I loved Belle Isle, and winning here is the icing on the cake. The guys at HRC and MSR did a great job, and we finally had a competitive car, which pays off in this series because you can start attacking, defending, or fine-tuning your strategy. Nick did a fantastic job in qualifying, but also today. He dominated the first part of the race perfectly and gave me a car in a great position. First victory for us, and it feels so good.”

With this victory, Meyer Shank Racing has achieved a fine comeback in an increasingly competitive championship. It's enough to fully revive the season's momentum for the American team and its drivers.
