Porsche Penske Motorsport continues to offer special liveries on its 963s in IMSAThe two German prototypes will thus sport a livery paying homage to Laguna Seca this weekend. This is a reference to the iconic Apple Computer Spectrum livery of the 1980 Porsche 935 that raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Bobby Rahal, Bob Garretson and Allan Moffat.

« We have a long-standing relationship with Porsche, dating back to 1980, the year a Porsche race car first sported the Apple logo.explains Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music, Sports and Beats. This moment marked the beginning of a shared passion for innovation and creativity, which continues to define our collaboration today. As Apple celebrates its 50th anniversary, we are proud to partner once again with Porsche on a design that pays homage to the original 1980 livery. »

« What began with the presentation of the Porsche 911 at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) in 1963 finds an echo at Apple: these two icons embody the innovation and continuous development led by the experts from Zuffenhausen, Weissach and Cupertino, adds Thomas Laudenbach, vice president of Porsche Motorsport. This is particularly true for Porsche Motorsport, where innovations have been created since 1951 in an extremely demanding competitive environment. »

Using this livery for the Laguna Seca race carries another symbolic meaning. The circuit is located in North Carolina, just a few kilometers from Apple Park, the company's global headquarters.
