This comeback will begin in Long Beach, the scene of his remarkable debut in the discipline in 2025. On the Californian street circuit, Wickens reached a symbolic milestone by driving for the first time on a street circuit with manual controls. Setting the fastest time in the GTD class on the first day, despite simultaneously getting to grips with the Corvette, he qualified eighth before finishing the weekend in 15th place after an incident during the race.
« I'm looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the Corvette Z06 GT3.R in a few weeks. Long Beach is always a special event, and we showed great potential last year. I hope we can build on that experience to be even more competitive. " says Wickens. The Canadian has clear ambitions: to accumulate experience in preparation for a full program in 2027, with the ultimate goal of winning the title.
Throughout the 2025 season, Wickens established himself as a serious contender in GTD. He started three top-five races in five sprint races, culminating in a third-place qualifying position at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in front of his home crowd. He also achieved his best race result there with a fourth-place finish, while adding three more top-ten finishes to his tally.

Filippi and Wickens share a strong common history. Between 2022 and 2024, they both progressed within the same program. Hyundai en IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, developing a relationship of mutual respect. Their partnership materialized in 2025 at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, where they secured a second place in their class, a historic result for a driver using manual controls.
In 2026, the No. 36 Corvette will tackle several demanding North American circuits. Wickens will also continue to push the technological boundaries in competition, thanks to his hand-operated control system developed by Bosch in collaboration with GM and Pratt Miller. This system allows him to manage acceleration, braking, and gear changes using only his hands.
The program will kick off at the Long Beach Grand Prix, with the first race scheduled for Saturday, April 18.
