Between the qualification results of 12 hours from Sebring (Florida) and the final grid, a lot of things have changed. Friday afternoon, a few hours after the end of the session, several GTs were penalized for various infringements of technical and sporting regulations.

La Mercedes Winward Racing n°57, which had won pole position in the GTD category thanks to Philip Ellis, saw its times canceled due to the presence of prohibited sensors on the car during qualifying. So this is the Ferrari Cetilar Racing n°47 of the trio Fuoco – Sernagiotto – Lacorte which regained pole position in the GTD, while the Winward Racing Mercedes n°57 fell to the back of the pack.

However, the No. 57 Mercedes will not start last, since the four Corvettes entered at Sebring were all relegated to the back of the grid. The Z06 GT3 R of the AWA and Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Racing teams will start last for not having respected article 2.5.2 of the Technical Regulations of theIMSA, which states that “the original configuration, as approved, of the car model must not be modified, unless this technical regulation authorizes it. ". Corvette Racing is also fined $10 for the violation.

Last penalty finally for the No. 023 Ferrari Triarsi Competizione, which will also start at the back of the grid (but in front of the No. 57 Mercedes and the four Corvettes). The American team has decided to change the driver who will start the 12 Hours of Sebring.

For the rest of the categories, no change: the two Cadillacs will start in the lead in the GTP, while the No. 99 Oreca of the AO Racing team will start in pole position in the LM P2.
