Already best time in the first free practice session and second in the morning session this Saturday, Filipe Albuquerque continued to show his good form this weekend on the Road America slide. The longest circuit of the season is always one of the drivers' favorites, and for the Portuguese, there is nothing better than driving there with a car with little fuel, new tires, and a such nice behavior!

« JI like to do qualifying because the car will never be better. Little fuel, new tires, a clean track, the sun setting a little... the car will never be faster. That feeling, for me, is always very, very special – driving a fast car at its peak. I love that ", explained the man who won his fifteenth pole position in IMSA.

« JI kept improving, and when I did 1'48″9, I thought that was good enough for pole. But I immediately told myself that I shouldn't underestimate anyone, even if I felt good. I then kept pushing for another lap and gained 3 tenths… I told myself it was a good lap and hoped no one improved! I told the team: “If it's not pole, I'll be at peace because I felt like I gave it my all. » And it went well. »

Spike, Corvette and Mercedes on pole

The No. 10 Acura will therefore take the start this Sunday at 21 p.m. with the other ARX-06 alongside it, the No. 40 of Jordan Taylor and Louis Delétraz. The first Cadillac, that of Renger van der Zande and Sébastien Bourdais, the n°01, is relegated to three tenths in third position, ahead of the first of the Porsche 963, which is not one of the official ones! It is in fact the No. 5 Proton of Gianmaria Bruni and Bent Viscaal which will line up fourth. You have to go down to seventh row to see the first Penske Porsche, the No. 6 of Mathieu Jaminet and Nick Tandy.

As for LMP2, it was Spike the dragon who took pole position! The No. 99 Oreca driven by Paul-Loup Chatin and PJ Hyett set the best time, ahead of the No. 2 United Autosports of Ben Hanley and Ben Keating. The latter suffered a major off-track during Free Practice 2, but the car was able to be rebuilt and placed on the front row!

Corvette achieved the double in GTD Pro, the No. 4 ahead of the No. 3, while in GTD we will find in pole position the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°32 from Korthoff/Preston Motorsports in front of theAston Martin n°27 of the Heart of Racing.
