It didn't take Tom Blomqvist long to find a base. While the Meyer Shank Racing team, with which he won the 24 and 2022 2023 Hours of Daytona as well as theIMSA in 2022, will not participate in the North American championship in 2024, the British driver will drive for Cadillac.
Blomqvist will thus be the third man in the No. 31 V-Series.R, the car recently crowned champion at Petit Le Mans. He joins Pipo Derani and Jack Aitken, who will be the two starters for the entire season, while Alexander Sims returns to GT at Corvette.
« We are delighted to have Tom join our team for the IMSA endurance events, said Action Express Racing Team Principal Gary Nelson. We believe that with his experience and recent success, he is a perfect fit for Jack Aitken and Pipo Derani. We look forward to working this winter to be up and running as soon as we arrive in Daytona. »
« After another great season with Meyer Shank Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, it is an honor to join Action Express Racing and Cadillac for the endurance rounds of the 2024 campaign, said Blomqvist, who also signed a multi-year deal with Meyer Shank Racing to compete full-time in theIndyCar from next season. It's a series I love being a part of and I'm excited to return to it once again. Being able to return to the series and attempt to defend my title at Daytona is a huge motivation and I can't thank Meyer Shank Racing and Honda Performance Development (HPD) enough for giving me this opportunity. »
