THEAston Martin Valkyrie took to the track for the first time in its LMH version last week at Donington Park and Silverstone. See Gaydon's new weapon in action in the video below courtesy of Aston Martin's official YouTube channel.

This prototype uses a modified version of the naturally aspirated 12 liter V6,5 engine built by Cosworth which, in standard form, revs to 11 rpm and develops over 000 hp, but adapted to meet the performance requirements of the Hypercar category. What is striking in the first photos revealed is this enormous rear wing, much more raised and higher than the funny appendage of the AMR Pro version.

« The first tests of the Valkyrie AMR-LMH were a moment of great pride for the program, rejoices Ian James, Team Principal of The Heart of Racing Team, who will be responsible for entering the English car both in the World ChampionshipEndurance of the FIA that in IMSA next year. The birth of this project took a few years, so to bring it to the track and see it running in the flesh is a great moment for the team. We can't wait to begin the journey ahead of us. »

The British boss is well aware that the prospect of seeing Aston Martin beat the official teams Ferrari, Toyota and other Porsche, is very thin in the medium term. “ This is a steep hill to climb for everyone involved in this project. We are at the pinnacle of sports car racing. The competitors are formidable and they have been practicing this profession for a long time. Some of them have unlimited resources. We know we are competing against the best, so we intend to represent Aston Martin at the same level. From what we've seen so far, and with the DNA of this car, I think we have the right tools to achieve this. »

This racing version of the Valkyrie is expected with two examples in the WEC and an entry in IMSA in 2025. Its competitive debut should therefore take place during the next 24 Hours of Daytona (Florida, January 25-26).
