Arriving at Silverstone, all you have to do is look up and face the imposing structure developed by Aston Martin to take stock of the team's ambitions in the coming years. More than just a project inherent in the Formula 1, the British firm intends to develop in many aspects of motor sport, notably by working on improving its driver academy.

However, Formula 1 remains the battle horse of a brand that has managed to attract Adrian Newey into its nets, where almost all the teams contending for the title seemed to have positioned themselves. According to recent statements from Andy Cowell, Newey is only focusing on the development of the car from 2026 since his arrival. Indeed, the confidences of the British engineer focus only on the future, which is bright under certain conditions.

Making room for people at Aston Martin

Attentive to the implementation and distribution of work within his new team, Adrian Newey cannot help but compare his environment to the one he knew at Red Bull. Despite the initial satisfaction, the trap would be to only look at the technical aspect according to him.

“Lawrence’s vision has resulted in the creation of some great facilities, first recalled the person concerned in an interview published by Aston Martin. The best in F1. But it's important that we optimize how we use them. F1 is a people business. Sure, there's a lot of technology, but it's the people who ultimately make things happen. My previous team had one of the worst wind tunnels in F1 and operated out of a bunch of unremarkable buildings in the middle of an industrial estate, but they managed to bring everyone together and form a great group of people. he takes as an example of success.

New recruitments coming up?

Beyond the quality of the people employed within the Red Bull team, numbers appear at least as important in the modern era of Formula 1. With this in mind, Adrian Newey already indicates that recruitment will be one of the major challenges in Aston Martin's development. To sustain the engineering in place, the team is reportedly not yet sufficiently dense at present.

“We have a lot of talented people, and some departments also need to be strengthened with more people. We need to get everyone working better together, using these tools and developing our capabilities, he comments. One area of our team that needs to grow is the aerodynamics department. But in the short term, this means we need to identify the most profitable areas and focus our resources on them."

Although the working basis appears to be at the level of Silverstone's expectations, the project could still be improved. With Adrian Newey as the cornerstone of this ambitious new project, the main stakeholder sees his role already extending beyond the design stage. Focused exclusively on the upcoming regulations, the engineer could also become the conductor of an orchestra under construction.

I'd add that for people to come with the desire to perform, you need a real project. What is it, with an aging driver and a daddy's boy who will never win a GP???

He confirms that throwing millions of dollars at the wheel doesn't make the car move forward, and his comparison with RBR is instructive... Tools alone aren't enough, you need people capable of using them, and we can clearly see the deficit at this level on the track. As for the academy, what's the point since the 2nd seat is locked?

Stroll Senior will be getting out his checkbook to satisfy his highly-recruited engineer! Perhaps he should also find a real second pilot...
