Within the wide range of career victories of Max VerstappenThe one secured last weekend at the Qatar Grand Prix was perhaps one of the most important. Arriving in Losail 24 points behind the championship leader, this victory allowed the driver Red Bull to maintain their chances of winning the title for the final round of the season, in Abu Dhabi.

This triumph, made possible by the perfect execution of the strategy implemented by his team at the start of the race, also marks a milestone in the career of the four-time world champion. In Qatar, he crossed the finish line in first place for the 70th time. Formula 1, a milestone that only Michael Schumacher (91 victories) and Lewis Hamilton (105 wins) were achieved before him. While he was the first to win without leading the race on the first lap on this circuit, he also secured his 50th victory with a car bearing the number 1.

With this victory, his third consecutive in Qatar, Max Verstappen has shaken things up in the Drivers' standings. First, he closes the gap to Lando Norris et Oscar piastri in the number of victories in 2025. Before the final in Abu Dhabi, they each had 7. This success then allowed him to take second place, previously held by Oscar Piastri. He thus placed himself ahead of a McLaren, in the general classification for the first time since April.

The Dutchman, however, still trails the championship leader, Lando Norris, by twelve points. Next week, three drivers will battle for the title in the season finale. Never before have more than two drivers been in contention at this stage of a campaign since the famous final round of the 2010 season (Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton). So anything is still possible…
