After a chaotic start to the live stream, Aston Martin finally unveiled its AMR26, the car supposed to carry Fernando Alonso (And Lance stroll) towards the world title. The first Formula 1 Designed by Adrian Newey for the Silverstone team, it combines its traditional green with large touches of black that adorn the sidepods, emblazoned with the Aramco logo. The Saudi brand also produces Aston Martin's 100% sustainable fuel. The AMR26 is the last of the eleven liveries to be unveiled after Cadillac on the night of February 8-9, during the Super Bowl halftime show, and McLaren, which unveiled its MCL40 on February 9th.

The Aston Martin was particularly anticipated as a self-proclaimed contender for both titles. While it doesn't currently revolutionize established visual conventions, this isn't the car that will be on track in Melbourne, Australia, for the first Grand Prix of the season on March 8th. After listening to the drivers discuss their ambitions for the season, Adrian Newey, dressed in a suit for the occasion, addressed the gathering in his capacity as team principal. The British engineer spoke of a " long and incredible journey » for his team until the Barcelona Shakedown (January 26-30), where the AMR 26 completed 65 laps.

In Catalonia, Lance Stroll completed only four laps on Thursday, the first day of testing for the Ferrari team, who had arrived the previous evening at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit. The following day, Fernando Alonso was able to add 61 laps to familiarize himself with his new car and its Honda engine, the new engine partner replacing Mercedes Benz.

For Aston Martin, the next step is pre-season testing in Bahrain from February 11th to 13th, and then from February 18th to 20th. The aim will be to resolve any remaining reliability issues following the limited running in Barcelona, and then to find performance before Melbourne.

Meh... I watched the documentary about Bruce McLaren today, back when there was diversity in F1! I know, it's a bit old-fashioned... but I'll own it... while waiting for Melbourne

To be honest, I'm disappointed with the livery… I would have liked a more aggressive look, but if the car is a success, it will more than make up for it! 👍 alainkf1@pt.lu 😎Fernando/Newey😉
