Have you seen Carlos Sainz finish in the points at Sunday's Singapore Grand Prix? Yes, if you've been paying attention to the standings. The former driver's comeback Ferrari, who moved from 19th to 10th place thanks to a shifted tire strategy, was however completely hidden from television production. The Spanish driver's overtaking of Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls) to gain the last point at stake was therefore not broadcast.
La Formula 1 has not been shining with the quality of its production for several months, but this was particularly evident during this Grand Prix, whose spectacle was already not the most grandiose. Several important moments were missed or broadcast late, such as the brake problems of Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) at the end of the race or the overtaking of Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) On Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), shown more than ten laps after the action itself.
A situation that's already frustrating for viewers, but is compounded by the fact that the production team seems to prioritize the drivers' partners and celebrities in the paddock over the action on the track. Carlos Sainz himself spoke out on the subject in an interview with Cadena COPE's El Partidazo program.
« It's a bit of a trend, said the former member of McLaren. It must have worked at one time: people found it interesting to see our girlfriends, to see celebrities on television, their reactions, etc. I understand that if there is an overtaking or a very tense moment in the race, it may be legitimate to film their reaction, and that the production, seeing that it has worked in the past, continues. »
« As long as the competition is respected and we always focus on the important moments of the race, it's fine with me. However, last weekend they didn't show any of the four or five overtaking moves I made at the end of the race, nor Fernando's comeback (Alonso) on Lewis. They missed a lot of things. I understand the idea, but we must not miss the point. In my opinion, they are overdoing it by highlighting celebrities and our partners »
Formula 1 responded to Sainz's comments in a statement: " We always strive to offer our fans the best possible images of the race and never compromise on what matters most: the competition on the track. Our team does an excellent job covering a very complex situation with various cars in different parts of the circuit, while also providing great context from the grandstands, the special guests, and the venues where we race. We are always striving for excellence and improvement in what we offer. » Will we see a change from the United States Grand Prix in Austin on October 19?

I remind everyone that the goal of F1 is to make an audience, to be able to sell caps. So, as the target audience is neither connoisseurs nor those who want cars that go around in circles (others, like me, are already watching and will always watch), we have to give them bling bling. This is the world of today, which consists of giving caviar to pigs! For the moment, it works but this ignorant public is fickle... maybe soon we will need stripteases and lotteries.

Indeed, we don't give a damn about the drivers' girlfriends...especially since they change them regularly...so we could show them after the driver's marriage :):):) And indeed a big omission in the live images, and also stop regularly showing one of the worst drivers of the season, all the time, because we don't give a damn either...I'm talking about Hamilton :):):)

"We always strive to offer our fans the best possible images of the race and never compromise on what matters most: the competition on the track." Rather laughable comments... which do not apply to Singapore, but perhaps a problem of jet lag and fatigue linked to a night race? The drivers' girlfriend, the VIPs very often unknown to real F1 fans... we don't care! Please refocus on the competition on the track, especially when we are yawning with boredom and missing the rare phases of the race worth seeing.
