At the heart of the title celebrations Lando Norris had just pocketed, Carlos Sainz The new champion and his teammates embraced for a long time. It was an image that caught everyone's attention. Teammates at McLaren During the 2019 and 2020 seasons, the Spaniard was the Briton's first garage neighbor in Formula 1.

Over the years they spent together, they forged a lasting friendship. Now, as number 4 has become the 35th Formula 1 world champion in history, the driver Williams was therefore naturally happy.

Recalling the embrace he had with Norris, Sainz takes the opportunity to pay him a beautiful tribute. “I was confident that this weekend, with the pace he had, he could finish in the top three if nothing went wrong, and that’s exactly what happened,” he confided after the race to DAZN, holder of the F1 broadcasting rights in Spain. I'm very happy for him. I think that as a driver, it goes without saying: we all know the talent he has, and the speed he has both over a single lap and in race pace, thanks to the years he's spent in Formula 1.

For Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris doesn't embody the typical image of a world champion: cold and determined in his quest, and undeterred by pressure. However, this is precisely what, in Sainz's view, makes Lando Norris a worthy winner.

"The most important thing for me is that he's a good guy," He continues. A good person. People criticize him a lot on social media because he's gentler, more sensitive than a Max Verstappenor what the prototype of the ideal world champion might be. Personally, I like that he stayed true to his style. He remained a good person, even with the criticism, he stayed true to himself. He proved that you can be a champion while still being a good person and an honest guy.

This title therefore somewhat consoles Carlos Sainz, who concludes his first campaign with Williams with a disappointing 13th place. “I started twelfth, we had the twelfth best car, and since nothing surprising happened in the race, that’s where we were going to finish, taking into account the additional Hamilton who were moving up through the peloton. We did our best to finish in the points, but we didn't have enough pace all weekend. I hope this will wake us up a bit, in case we thought we were in good form after a podium finish. I'm glad it happened because we're heading into winter without getting complacent.

And implicitly, from the Smooth Operator, a barely veiled criticism of Max V's on-track behavior!

Unlike his predecessor at Ferrari, he has found his feet at Williams, securing the team's first two podium finishes in a long time. This is just the beginning.

It was more likely he who fell asleep during the race.
